The Document Layout's page size refers to the dotted box in the working area part of Displayr.
This dotted area is a guide for what area is focused on initially when a dashboard is opened in View Mode, and it will also determine the size of slides/pages when the document is exported to PowerPoint/PDF. Keep in mind that any item -- whether on a Page or not -- that is not hidden will be visible in a published dashboard and exported to Office or PDF.
There isn't a way to set the initial zoom level on a dashboard for View Mode, but the page size will affect the initial zoom level when viewing a dashboard. When you open a dashboard in view mode, the initial view will:
- Zoom in to fit the page size to the page area in View Mode based on your browser size. Plus adjust based on the position of other items as described below.
- Zoom out to fit everything off the Page horizontally. This is to minimize horizontal scrolling.
- Zoom out to fit items that go very slightly below the page. Any items that are on the Page and go noticeably below the page or are entirely off the Page underneath will be visible by scrolling.
Method
You can control the size of pages in a Displayr document by selecting the More Tools icon and going to the Document Layout, see below:
Once selected you will get a pop-up with a dropdown to select the size you want to use on all the pages in your document. You are unable to adjust the size of individual Pages.
Select your desired layout and click Apply.
Other examples
- To create one long scrolling dashboard, set the Document Layout to Custom and set the size in inches to set your initial focus at the top. Then add items below the page that will be available via scrolling. Many people also add a rectangle shape or image to serve as a background to keep the dashboard design more cohesive.
- To create an infographic that you want to show the entirety of, adjust the page size to fit the size of the infographic.
