This article describes how to insert and set default chart, table, and text box positions and sizes in the Page Master so that you have a standard template layout you can use throughout your report. You can create editable place holders where you can drop outputs to automatically resize and position them (see How to Add Editable Placeholders on Page Masters) as well as insert standard text boxes, shapes, and images that cannot be edited in the Normal view (essentially serving as the background on the page).
Requirements
For tables, this feature does not apply to tables that use Banners in the columns.
Method
- Click Page Master
at the bottom of the screen.
- Select one of the default Pages in the Master tree - these are known as a Page layout in Normal view. If desired, right-click, and select Duplicate to make a copy of the page. (You can right-click on the duplicated Page and Rename it accordingly.)
- OPTIONAL: Reposition, resize, delete, or otherwise modify Properties on any text box and chart or editable content block (the empty boxes in the picture above).
- OPTIONAL: Text boxes with static text, shapes, images, and editable items can be inserted and positioned using icons on the toolbar.
- To return from the Page Master view, click Exit Page Master
at the bottom of the screen. This will take you back to the Normal view, where you can carry on creating your report. Any new Page layouts will be listed in the Page layout menu when inserting a Page.
- OPTIONAL: You can change the layout of any page, by selecting the Page(s) in the Report tree and in the Properties changing the Layout > Page layout to one of the Page layouts in the Page Master. This will reposition anything currently in an editable placeholder into a new corresponding placeholder in the new layout. If none are present, it will convert the items to standalone outputs.
