By default, when you export a report to PowerPoint, all of the visualizations will export as an image on the slide. However, you may want to access underlying data or make minor modifications in PowerPoint, which requires an actual Chart output. This article describes how to export a visualization from Displayr...
...to PowerPoint as an editable chart.
Requirements
- At least one Displayr visualization.
- A matching PowerPoint chart type, see our technical notes for exceptions and other important info.
Method
1. Select the chart or visualization from the page.
2. In the object inspector go to Appearance > PowerPoint Export.
3. Change Format to Microsoft Chart.
4. To change the chart type, select the desired chart type from the Export as menu; if Match Displayr is selected, Displayr selects the most suitable match; if none is found a bar chart is selected as the default.
5. Go to Share > Export Pages > PowerPoint.
Note: once you've made your changes, click Set as Default to change the above settings to apply to all charts in the document which have not been explicitly set. Click Reset to revert to the document's default settings.
Technical Information
- Every Page Master (default and custom) in Displayr will be exported to PowerPoint as a slide layout within the Slide Master.
- Objects that can be added to a Page Master (e.g. text items, images, shapes, controls, placeholder textboxes) will appear in PowerPoint on these slide layouts, with the exception of page numbers.
- When exporting tables to PowerPoint, it controls the wrapping of column text in tables in the exported file. This means that there are cases where what you see in Displayr may not completely match what you see in the export.
- Newer PowerPoint Office 2016 Charts are not currently supported (Treemap, Sunburst, Histogram, Box & Whisker, Waterfall, Funnel, Filled Map).
