This article describes how to go from a chart which shows the overall preference of Coca-Cola:
To a column chart showing trend over time by interview date:
The results from a particular time period are shown as columns. Significance tests, shown as arrows, compare the categorical period with the previous categorical period (see Tests Of Statistical Significance).
The lines below each column show how the result has changed over time. Lines that trend significantly upwards or downwards are color-coded, using the same method as for trend plots (see Significance Tests on Trend Plots).
Requirements
At least one of the following:
- Two variables or variable sets
- A column chart with trend can be used to show the relationship between a Date question and a Nominal, Ordinal, Binary-Multi, Numeric-Multi, or Date question
- A table with at least the same makeup as the question tyees listed above
Method 1- via the visualization menu
- Select Visualization > Time Series > Column with Trend Tests
- Click on the page where you want your chart
- Select either a categorical or numeric variable for the Rows and a Date variable for the Date Question. In this example, we selected Coca-Cola and Interview Date.
- OPTIONAL: Under the Chart tab, you can make further modifications to the appearance.
Method 2- use an existing table
- Select the table and from the object inspector, go to Visualization > Column > Column.
- OPTIONAL: Under the Chart tab, you can make further modifications to the appearance.
- Click Calculate and/or ensure that Automatic is checked.
