This article describes how to create a chart showing individual series over time with significance colored directly on the series. The example below shows showing trends in cola preference over time:
Requirements
A Data Set in the Data Sources tree.
Method - Convert the table into a visualization in-place
This method changes the table you select into a visualization overtop of the current table. The table is nested under the visualization and is not visible anymore, but you can toggle back to the table again if needed.
- Select the existing table that shows the date/time variable in the columns.
- From Properties
, go to Visualization > Time Series.
- Select Small Multiples with Tests for Trends.
- Optional: If you want to see the table again, click the Table button at the top of the visualization's Properties.
Method - Hook up data to a blank visualization
- From the toolbar or Report > + menu, go to Visualization
> Time Series.
- Select Small Multiples with Tests for Trends and, if working on a Page, click on the page where you want to put your chart.
- From the visualization's Properties
, go to Data > Data Source and either select a table in the Data field or variables as follows:
- In the Rows box, select the variable you want to visualize over time, in this example, Preferred cola.
- In the Date/filter question box, select a date/time variable, in this example, Interview Date.
Method - Create from the Data Sources tree
- Select the variable set in the Data Sources pane.
- From the toolbar or Report > + menu, go to Visualization
> Time Series.
- Select Small Multiples with Tests for Trends and, if working on a Page, click on the page where you want to put your chart.
- The variable selected will automatically be added in the visualization's Properties > Data > Rows field (Preferred Cola in this example).
- In the Date/filter question field, select a date/time variable, in this example, Interview Date.
