This article describes how to set up a background by inserting images and shapes from the Images and Shapes menus in the toolbar. When you go into the Page Master, you can see the different page layouts on the left (Title Only, Blank, etc.).

- Create a new Document by selecting + New Document in the Document Settings
- Or, open an existing Displayr Document
Method
Get creative and design a background for your dashboard e.g., add a block of color, a photo, or a logo. To insert a background image:

To access the Page Master, click on the Menu button
at the top left of the screen as shown below.
- Select a Page layout from the Master pane where you'd like to change the background.
- To use an image as the background:
- Insert your image or to change the background color of your Page, From the toolbar, click on Image and select your image.
- Make sure the image fills the page by dragging it to size.
- Images are automatically compressed to optimize resolution vs load time in browsers online. You may wish to turn this off or also enable it for exporting via the General > Image Compression menu.
- To change the background color:
- From the toolbar, click on Shape > Square.
- Draw a square the same size as the page area in the work area.
- Use the object inspector > Appearance menu to customize the colors.
- After inserting and modifying your background, you need to put it behind the other elements on the page. To do so, right click and select Arrange > Send to Back.
- Do this for every page type you want to have a background under the Master tree.
- To return from the Page Master view, click the
button at the top right of the screen. This will take you back to the Normal view where you carry on creating your report.
- You can apply the layout to the current page in your document by click on the Page in the Report tree and in the object inspector selecting it in the Appearance > Layout > Page layout menu.
- OPTIONALLY: You can just import images ad-hoc with Insert > Text and Images > Image.
Technical Information
- Every Page Master (default and custom) in Displayr will be exported to PowerPoint as a slide layout within the Slide Master.
- Objects that can be added to a Page Master (e.g. text items, images, shapes, controls, placeholder textboxes) will appear in PowerPoint on these slide layouts, with the exception of page numbers.
