Method 1 - Upload and select template in Displayr
Method 2 - Apply template after export
You will go from a visualization formatted in Displayr:
To a chart formatted using the specific template style in PowerPoint:
Requirements
- A Displayr visualization.
- A PowerPoint chart design template (saved as a .crtx file type) that corresponds to the chart type you want to export (for Method 1 only).
- Access to the Displayr Cloud drive (for Method 1 only).
Please note this requires the Data Stories module or a Displayr license.
Method 1 - Upload and select template in Displayr
In this method you will configure a chart template (.crtx file) in PowerPoint and select this in Displayr to be used when exporting to PowerPoint.
- [Optional] If you don't have a .crtx file already, you can create one in PowerPoint by right clicking on a PowerPoint chart, selecting Save as template, and saving the file (take note of the filepath where you save the template file).
- Upload the .crtx file to your Displayr cloud drive so Displayr has access to it. In Displayr, in the top right corner click on the Profile icon with your initials > Displayr Cloud Drive.
- Click on +Upload.
- Drag and drop or click or select your PowerPoint chart design template file (with a .crtx extension) and click Upload. Now you can export visualizations in your documents using this template.
- To use this template when exporting a visualization, click on the visualization and change Appearance > Powerpoint Export > Microsoft Chart. This will export the visualization as an editable chart in PowerPoint instead of an image.
- Next select Export as > your template name. You'll see your templates denoted as being (from Displayr Cloud Drive).
- [Optional] After you make your selections, you can press the Set as default to apply these settings to all visualizations in the document which have not been explicitly set.
- From the toolbar, click Share > Export Report > PowerPoint to export this or all pages to PowerPoint. The chart style from your template will automatically be used in those visualizations it was selected on.
Method 2 - Apply template after export
You can also apply a chart template to the chart after it is exported from Displayr.
- Click on the visualization and change Appearance > Powerpoint Export > Microsoft Chart. This will export the visualization as an editable chart in PowerPoint instead of an image.
- Next select Export as > Match Displayr to have Displayr choose a default chart type based on the chart in Displayr, or you can select a specific PowerPoint default chart type that you want.
- [Optional] After you make your selections, you can press the Set as default to apply these settings to all visualizations in the document which have not been explicitly set.
- From the toolbar, click Share > Export Report > PowerPoint to export this or all pages to PowerPoint.
- From PowerPoint, select the chart you want to change and right click Change Chart Type.
- You can select the specific template you want to apply in the Templates folder in the dialogue that pops up to apply it to the chart and click OK.
