How to Create a Donut Chart

This article describes how to go from a single-column table (or a single categorical variable) like this...

...to a donut chart, like this:

Requirements

A data table consisting of at least one column, or a single variable containing categorical data.

Method 1 - via the visualization menu

1. Go to Visualization > Pies > Donut.
2. Click on the page to place the donut visualization.
3. Under Inputs > DATA SOURCE > Output in 'Pages' select the table you want to display as a donut chart.
   If instead of a table you wish to use a variable, under Inputs > DATA SOURCE > Variables in 'Data' select the variable from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the variable into the menu itself from the Data Sets tree. 
4. OPTIONAL: If your input table contains more than one column, go to Inputs > COLUMN MANIPULATIONS > Columns to show and specify which column you would like to display. 
5. OPTIONAL:  Under the Chart tab of the object inspector, you can make additional formatting changes.

Method 2 - from an existing table

1. Select the table.
2. From the object inspector, go to Visualization > Pies > Donut.
3. OPTIONAL: If your input table contains more than one column, go to Inputs > COLUMN MANIPULATIONS > Columns to show and specify which column you would like to display. 
4. OPTIONAL:  Under the Chart tab of the object inspector, you can make additional formatting changes.

Note

Important information about editing captions: 

Visualization caption edits may not be retained when a visualization with a nested table is switched back to table. Normally, this only occurs when you double-click the caption and edit the text directly. As a workaround, we recommend using Properties > CAPTION > Edit caption to edit your captions.
