Images can contribute noticeably to a document's speed both overall and loading in your browser. If you Review your Document's Memory Usage and see images taking up a chunk of the memory, you should reduce the number and/or size of those images. If there is a particular image that takes a long time to load in your browser, you can choose to compress the image to a lower resolution to load faster, see last section below.
To reduce the number of images:
- Add repeated images to the to a layout in the Page Master to have it appear on multiple pages, see How to Insert Your Company Logo in the Page Master for an example.
- Create a new image combining multiple images to use as the background image.
To reduce the size of images:
- Download a lower resolution copy of the image.
- Resave the image with a lower resolution using image editing software on your computer.
To load an image faster in your browser or on export:
Use Displayr's image compression (used for online browsers by default). Displayr's built-in image compression will automatically choose the ideal resolution for your image and compress it so that it loads faster in online browsers (this does not affect the memory needed for the Displayr server as other methods). This can greatly speed up the time it takes to load high-resolution images. For exporting, the original resolution is used by default. Both settings can be toggled in the object inspector of the image in the Properties > IMAGE COMPRESSION section using the Automatically compress image when viewing online and Automatically compress images when exporting as PDF or PowerPoint check boxes.
