This article describes how to reuse a code frame within the same Displayr Document. In this example, we have already coded an open-ended text question and wish to apply the same code frame to another question in our Displayr Document.
If you wish to reuse a code frame across two different Displayr Documents, see How to Use a Categorization in a Different Document.
Requirements
A categorized variable or variable set created in Displayr from text variable(s) using Displayr Manual or Semi-Automatic Text Categorization. These variables typically contain the word "Categorized" in their name:
Method
Reuse by Sharing Code Frame
If you share the code frame, any changes made to the code frame (e.g., categorizing "peps" as Pepsi) will apply to all questions sharing the code frame.
- Select the text variable (set) in the Data Sets tree.
- Hover over the Data Sets tree and select + > Text Categorization > Manual or Semi-Automatic > Multiple Overlapping Categories or Mutually Exclusive Categories > Reuse by Sharing > select the code frame;
or else from the toolbar menu, select Anything > Advanced Analysis > Text Analysis > Manual or Semi-Automatic > Multiple Overlapping Categories or Mutually Exclusive Categories > Reuse by Sharing > select the code frame.
Displayr will automatically apply the shared code frame to the selected text variable set. In the below example, it coded all mentions apart from one ("peps").
Reuse by Copying Code Frame
If you copy the code frame, any changes made to the code frame (e.g., categorizing "peps" as Pepsi) will only apply to this question.
-
- Select the text variable (set) in the Data Sets tree.
- Hover over the Data Sets tree and select + > Text Categorization > Manual or Semi-Automatic > Multiple Overlapping Categories or Mutually Exclusive Categories > Reuse by Copying > select the code frame;
or else from the toolbar menu, select Anything > Advanced Analysis > Text Analysis > Manual or Semi-Automatic > Multiple Overlapping Categories or Mutually Exclusive Categories > Reuse by Copying > select the code frame. - Displayr will automatically apply the shared code frame to the selected text variable question. In the below example, it coded all mentions apart from one ("peps").
