A Displayr document can be published online (i.e., as a dashboard; see the gallery of examples). This article describes how to publish as a web page, the distinction between edit and view mode, and how to let share a report with others.
Requirements
You will need paid Server time for private dashboards and API to enable publishing dashboards.
How to publish as a web page
A document is published by:
- Pressing Share > Publish to web.
- Select one of the options. Note this requires that your account has paid Server time for private dashboards and API hours.
- Press Publish
- To view the published document, press Open in new tab.
Documents in view mode
Making changes to a Displayr document is done in edit mode. Once a document has been published, it can be opened in view mode (which is how users without edit licenses or a login can access a document).
In view mode, the viewer can interact with the document (e.g., navigate pages, apply filters, use controls, and export) but they cannot modify the way others see the document.
When a document is modified in edit mode, all users currently accessing the document in edit mode will see these changes in real-time. By contrast, changes only appear in view mode once the document has been republished.
Sharing a published document with others
The easiest way to share your document is to copy and share the URL (via the address bar in your browser). Access is determined by the settings you chose when the document was published.
Note: The URL includes a link to a specific page, so make sure to first navigate to the page you want the viewer to start on before copying the URL.
You can also automatically send email and Slack alerts to users with links to published documents.
