How to Remove Decimals in a Table Without Rounding

This article describes how to go from a standard table...

...to a table where, for selected statistic,s we remove the decimal places after a certain number without rounding the numbers:

Requirements

  • A table or visualization.

Note: You must apply the rule directly to the input table if you see a table icon in the Data > Data Source > Data field in the object inspector 26UI_ObjectInspector.png of a visualization.

You will also see a warning in the Rules section of the object inspector 26UI_ObjectInspector.png if you have applied a rule directly to a non-compatible visualization, and you will need to apply it to the input table instead. For example:

Method

  1. Select your table.
  2. Go to Data > Rules in the object inspector 26UI_ObjectInspector.png.
  3. Select '+' > Cell Content > Hide Decimals without Rounding.
  4. Enter the number of Decimals places to round.
  5. OPTIONAL: Tick Apply to all statistics.
  6. If you wish to apply to specific statistics only, leave Apply to marginal statistics ticked and enter the relevant statistics under Apply only to.
  7. Press OK.

Technical Details

  • Significance tests are conducted on the results prior to the modification.
  • A footnote is added to explain which statistics have been modified in this way.
  • You can choose to modify all numeric statistics shown on the table, or you can select a set of statistics to modify.
  • You can also choose whether or not marginal statistics (Statistics - Below and Statistics - Right) are included in the modification.
