How to Insert a Link Into a Displayr Document

Links allow a viewer to jump to a different page within your Document (Dashboard) or to a URL outside the Document. You can attach a link to specific text or to an object as a whole (see Additional details below for exceptions). Adding links to Pages in your document allows you to set up navigation icons and images as a part of your dashboard design instead of using the navigation pane on the left in View Mode. These can be incorporated into Layouts in the Page Master or on individual Pages in Normal Edit Mode. There are several options available (animations are discussed in How to Add Animations to Published Dashboards):

Method 1 - Link to a Web Page

Method 4 - Remove a link

Requirements

• An object (such as an image or shape) or text to add the link to. 
• For links to pages or for navigation, you need at least two Pages in your document. Only Pages that are not hidden can be linked to.

Method 1 - Link to a Web Page 

1. Select an output or text you wish to add the link to.
2. Right-click the item you wish to link and select Link > Web Page. 
3. Input the complete hyperlink, including the protocol (e.g., http, https, ftp, or mailto). The link to the Displayr home page (https://www.displayr.com/) is used in the example below. 
4. [Optional]: select Open this link in a new tab. Selecting this option will ensure that the desired website opens in a new tab of the browser, rather than navigating away from the Dashboard. 
   
   
5. [Optional]: if adding a link within text, you can modify the Text to display: text is shown for the link.
   
6. Select OK.

Method 2 - Link to a Page within the Document 

1. Select an output or text you wish to add the link to.
2. Right-click the text and select Link > Page in this Document. 
3. Select the desired page from the Page: drop-down menu.
4. [Optional]: select Open this link in a new tab if you wish for the Page to appear in a new tab of the browser. 
   
5. Select OK. 

Note: Page links are not supported when exporting to Office or PDF.

Method 3 - Navigate within browser history or within the Document 

1. Select an image, shape, text, or other output to which you wish to add the link.
2. Right-click the text and click Link.
3. Select one of the below options:
   - Back - to go backward in viewers' browser history.
   - Forward - to go forward in viewers' browser history.
   - Previous Page - to link to the previous page in the document.
   - Next Page - to link to the next page in the document.
4. Select OK. 

Note, navigation links are not supported when exporting to Office or PDF.

Method 4 - Remove a link

1. Select the object or text from which you want to remove the link.
2. Right-click and click Link > Remove Link.
3. Click OK to confirm you want to remove the link.
