How to Relabel Other/Specify Categories as Other

This article describes how to identify questions in your document that contain Other/Specify style categories and gives you the option to relabel these as 'Other' in tables and charts. If a question contains more than one category that looks like an Other/Specify category then the script will not relabel it. Such questions will be added to a separate folder for you to inspect.

Requirements

A data set containing at least one variable set with an Other or Other/Specify category.

Method

Please note this requires the Data Stories module or a Displayr license.

Select the tables or variables that you want to change.
From the toolbar menu, select Anything > Data > Miscellaneous > Relabel Other/Specify Categories as Other.
The Other/Specify labels will be changed to "Other" in the selected tables.
