Sometimes you may want to change your outputs to show percentages against the total sample. This article describes how go from variable sets that currently have missing data (i.e., Missing Values are set to "Exclude from analyses"):
to one that includes the missing data selection in analyses:
Requirements
- Familiarity with the Structure and Value Attributes of Variable Sets.
- A data set containing a variable or variable set with a specific value set to missing data (i.e., Missing Values are set to "Exclude from analyses") in the Value Attributes settings.
Method 1 - Include in all analyses and statistics
- Select your variable or variable set containing the missing data values from the Data Sources tree.
- In the object inspector click Data > Properties > Missing Values.
- In the Value Attributes dialog, change the Missing Values dropdown to Include in analyses for each code you want to exclude.
- Click OK.
Method 2 - Include in Percentages exclude from Averages
- Select your variable or variable set containing the missing data values from the Data Sources tree.
- In the object inspector click Data > Properties > Missing Values.
- In the Value Attributes dialog, change the Missing Values drop-downs to Include in percentages (but not averages) for each code you want to exclude.
- Click OK.
The value attribute setting will be changed to Include in percentages (but not in averages):
