To a variable with the value attributes are recoded using the midpoints of the categorical ranges:
Requirements
- A categorical variable with numeric ranges which represent each category (i.e., 18 to 24, or 25-29), but is coded with standard numeric codes/values (i.e., 1, 2, 3, etc.).
Method
- Select the categorical variable in the Data Sources tree, and click + > Numeric Transformations > Category Midpoints.
- Click the Data > Attributes > Values & Labels button from Properties
to review and confirm the assigned midpoint values.
