This article describes how to go from a table...
...to a table or visualization where you change, for example, the NET row label to Total:
Requirements
- A table with rows and columns.
Note: You must apply the rule directly to the input table if you see a table icon in the Data > Data Source > Data field in the object inspector of a visualization.
You will also see a warning in the Rules section of the object inspector if you have applied a rule directly to a non-compatible visualization, and you will need to apply it to the input table instead. For example:
Method
1. Select the table.
2. In the object inspector, go to Data > Rules.
3. Select Plus (+) > Row/Column Labels > Change Row Labels.
4. On the next screen, enter 'NET' as the Old label (i.e., the row that you want to relabel) and enter 'Total' as the new label:
5. Click OK to apply the rule.
While you can simply right-click a table category > Rename to change a label, this rule allows users to choose when to show this label without it flowing through to every other table that uses this question.
Note, if you select Switch rows and columns on your table, the rule will no longer work due to the table dimensions changing. In this case, you will have to apply the How to Change Column Labels in Tables rule instead.
