Displayr now makes it even easier to tell the story in a data table, you can automatically sort the rows, columns or both, based on patterns of significance in the data.
This is sometimes called "diagonalization". By making the patterns clearer it helps communicate meaning in the data.
This article describes how to go from an unsorted table:
To a state table sorted by a pattern, in this case by row patterns:
- A table created in Displayr from a variable or variables in your data set.
- Select your table.
- From the toolbar menu, simply select Sort and then select Categories Shown in Rows > By Pattern or Categories Shown in Columns > By Pattern.
- Alternatively, you can right-click on any row or column and select Sort > Categories Shown in Rows > By Pattern or Categories Shown in Columns > By Pattern.
