How to Sort Columns for Entered or Pasted Tables

This article describes how to go from an unsorted table...

...to a sorted table.

Requirements

Please note this requires the Data Stories module or a Displayr license.

A table that has been created using Table > Paste or Enter Table by using the Inputs > DATA SOURCE > Paste or type data option. This method can also work on other tables, like, tables generated in Custom Calculations (or other tables generated with R code), and auto-fit tables.

Method

1. Select the table

2. Go to Data > Column Manipulations and tick Sort columns on the object inspector to change the column order.

3. Tick Sort in decreasing order to sort from highest to lowest.

4. Enter either the row index number or name of the row to sort by in the Row used for sorting columns field. Here we are sorting by the first row.

5. OPTIONAL: Add label names to Columns to exclude from sorting if desired.
