This article describes how to go from a bar, column, or pyramid chart that has a single series of data shown in one color, like this:
To a chart that shows the values using a gradient, where the color saturation is determined by the values in the chart, like this:
This process is not applicable to visualizations (e.g., Bar, Column), not legacy charts (these are visualizations with the words "with Tests").
Requirements
- A bar, column, or pyramid visualization with a single series (i.e., it cannot be a stacked or clustered visualization)
- A table containing the same data as used in the chart. This table:
- Should contain exactly the same row labels as used in the chart.
- Can be the same table used to create the visualization if it's created using Data > DATA SOURCE > Output in 'Pages'.
Method
1. Select the visualization on the Page.
2. Under Data > ROW MANIPULATIONS check the boxes labeled Sort rows and Sort in decreasing order.
3. Under Chart > DATA SERIES check the box labeled Multiple colors within a single series.
4. Under Chart > DATA SERIES > Color palette select a palette that goes from "dark to light" or "light to dark" (these are gradients). The example above uses Reds, light to dark.
5. Under Chart > DATA SERIES > Values select the table that contains the values to use for the gradient.
6. Make sure Automatic is checked (or click Calculate).
